RADAR Data Processing Solutions Offer Double the Performance at Half the Cost

 

 

VadaTech has been providing high density processing solutions used in RADAR applications in various configurations utilizing MicroTCA’s versatile COTS modularity. One example is a MTCA.1 chassis utilizing VadaTech’s 40GbE MicroTCA Carrier Hub (UTC004) with precision clocking and GPS/SyncE/IEEE1588.  With plenty of networking capabilities, the system also features a Layer 3 switch with 8 Ethernet ports and clock holdover stability options up to Stratum-3. The chassis is being modified to MTCA.3 (rugged conduction cooled) for production. An advantage with MicroTCA is the same modules can be easily transformed from standard commercial requirements to a rugged format with wedge-lock clamshells.   

 

Another RADAR application will utilize our VT950 rugged 1U MicroTCA rackmount platform. It is designed to meet MIL-STD-810F and 901D for shock and vibration.  The application includes an Intel Xeon E3 processor AMC and a Virtex-7 FGPA carrier with a removable dual QSFP+ networking FMC, and an advanced RAID storage module with a Host Bus Adapter to double the throughput performance. Overall, MicroTCA solutions are providing significantly improved performance density at often half of the hardware cost of VPX.
