VadaTech, a manufacturer of embedded boards and complete application-ready platforms, now offers a new generation of its mezzanine-based shelf manager that is used in AdvancedTCA (ATCA), MicroTCA, and other applications. The new shelf manager provides a quad-core 1 GHz per core processor, a 10x improvement over its previous version.

The VT003 shelf manager is a low-power mezzanine that is fully backwards compatible to previous VadaTech generations of product. The board provides 1 GB of DDR3 memory, 32 GB of Flash, and 8 GB of NAND Flash. Other features of the shelf manager include dual 10/100 Ethernet ports, three RS-232 ports, and an I2C real-time clock with battery back-up.

The compact mezzanine approach of the VT003 makes it easily deployed on a carrier of the customer’s choosing, helping to reduce development time and upgrade costs. The shelf manager also has F-RAM for log messages; providing faster write performance, more write/erase cycles, and low power consumption.

VadaTech also offers MicroTCA Carrier Hubs that act as a shelf manager/switch in the system. The company has developed a wide range of shelf manager carriers for various chassis vendors in the market.
