Description

The VT805 is a four-slot chassis that accommodates four x16 PCIe style FPGA modules. The standard PCIe clock could be configured as 100/125/156.25MHz and/or 322.265625MHz.

Power Supplies

The VT805 can accept up to four power supplies that can provide 2+2 redundancy. The VT805 has a Power Entry Module (PEM) that manages power to each slot independently. The VT805 has options for Universal AC, +28V DC and/or +48V DC power supplies. Each slot is independently powered which does not allow a module to bring down the system. The I2C bus to each slot is also radial to ensure that one module can’t interfere with the communications of another.

Cooling

The VT805 has an intelligent fan controller and the cooling is front to back.

Routing between modules

The VT805 chassis provides x4 lanes from each slot to every other slot as a full mesh. From each slot there is a 100G/40G (or quad 25/10/5/2.5/1G) interface to the 100G Switch. For FPGA modules that support internally wired 10GBASE-T, there is a 10GBASE-T interface to the switch via RJ-45.

Integrated 100GbE Switch with IEEE-1588 and SyncE

The VT805 has quad QSFP28 as egress ports. Each QSFP28 can be configured by software to run as single 100G/40G or quad 25G/10G/5G/2.5G/1G (any mix combination within the quad ports is allowed).

In addition, the VT805 has quad 10GBASE-T as well as quad SFP-DD (configurable as single 50G and/or dual 25/10/5/2.5/1 G). The switch has capabilities for IEEE-1588 as well as SyncE.  VT805 provides a 10MHz, 1PPS, or any clock user configurable clock frequency to each slot for FPGA modules that can accept a clock synchronization via the four rear panel SSMC connectors.

Integrated BMC

The VT805 has a health management controller on board which follows the IPMI specification. This allows dynamic cooling of the chassis as well as provide health management to the upper protocol.

Integrated USB HUB

The VT805 has a USB Hub that allows each module to connect via internal cable connection to the on-board hub.

Integrated JTAG Switch Module (JSM)

The VT805 has a JSM to allow all four slots to be managed thru a single JTAG connector on the front panel or via GbE using a Virtual Probe functionality.

Chassis Locator

Each chassis could be assigned a unique Chassis Locator (CL) to uniquely identify the chassis among multiple chassis within the larger system.
