VadaTech Announces ATC132, an ATCA 100g/40g Carrier with Quad AMC Slots

VadaTech, a leading manufacturer of integrated systems and embedded boards and chassis, enabling software and application ready platforms, announces ATC132.

The ATC132 is VadaTech’s fourth generation AdvancedTCA AMC carrier that provides four full-size AMC slots. The Carrier has a high-end 100GbE switch with managed layer 2/3 switch stack. The carrier has two 1GbE to the ATCA backplane Base Channels as well as four 100GbE/40GbE to the ATCA backplane Fabric Channels. The carrier has dual 40GbE routed to ports 4-7 and 8-11 to each of the AMC slots. Each 40GbE port could be configured as four 10GbE or 1GbE or any combination. The carrier also routes 10GbE/1GbE to ports 0 and 1 of each AMC. The ATC132 has the CLKA/CLKB of each of the AMC modules routed to a Cross Bar Switch (CBS). The CBS is also connected to the ATCA backplane M-LVDS clocks (CLK1/A/B, CLK2/A/B, and CLK3/A/B). The CBS provides a flexible way of having any of the AMCs as the source of the clock or receiver of the clock. All clock configurations are via software The ATC132 optionally routes AMC ports 12-14 routed as a full mesh among the four AMC slots. This allows high speed communication among the AMC slots without going thru the switch fabric. The ATC132 optionally routes AMC ports 17-20 as a bussed configuration across the four slots as M-LVDS. This allows synchronization clocks or triggers to be passed among the four slots with minimum latency. The Carrier has a 500W power supply.

  • ATCA backplane M-LVDS clocks routed to the CBS

  • Rear Transition Module (RTM) for I/O expansion

The VRT582A is a 3U VPX Rear Transition Module providing I/O expansion for use with the VPX582 for testing and validation. Dual GbE 1000BASE-T are routed from RP1 to back panel RJ-45. The REF_CLK and AUX_CLK are routed to the SSMC. The high speed SERDES and single-ended I/O are looped back. The JTAG is routed to the rear panel.  The module has an M.2 socket.

The VRT592A is a 3U VPX Rear Transition Module (RTM) providing I/O expansion for use with the VadaTech VPX592 . The RTM provides four optical transceivers with the LC style connectors for up to 10Gb speed. The optical transceivers can operate down to one Gb. The optical transceivers are protocol agnostic (Aurora, Ethernet, etc.) and are configured by the FPGA. The VRT592A provides four Isolated Input as well as having a full duplex isolated RS-422 interface. The VRT592A has a JTAG connector.

VadaTech Announces PCI594 with Xilinx VU13P UltraScale+TM FPGA and Quad QSFP28

VadaTech, a leading manufacturer of integrated systems and embedded boards and chassis, enabling software and application ready platforms, announces PCI594.

The PCI594 is based on the Xilinx VU13P UltraScale+TM FPGA, which provides over 12,000 DSP slices, 360 Mb of UltraRAM and 3,780K logic cells. The FPGA interfaces to the quad QSFP28 modules. It also has interface to a single DDR4 memory bank that is 64-bit wide with16 GB total. This allows for large buffer sizes to be stored during processing as well as for queuing the data to the host.

PCI594 has a PLL that can lock into an external clock such as 1PPS or to a sinewave clock up to 400MHz. The module also has a GbE with SyncE capabilities. The PCI594 could run as SyncE Master and/or Slave. The module provides four clock output which could be connected to adjacent PCI594 modules to allow synchronized between modules.

PCI594 has x16 PCIe edge connector routed to the FPGA PCIe hard IP block.  The x16 SERDES going to the edge connector could be configured to run any protocol and integrated, for example, into VadaTech’s VT808 chassis. In addition, there are 16 uncommitted SERDES routed to a dual x8 expansion connector, providing direct connectivity to a neighbouring FPGA (e.g. via Aurora, 10/40GbE, SRIO, PCIe) without the need to go through the host.

The Quad QSFP28 Cages could take 100GbE as well as 40GbE optical transceiver. The optical modules could be bifurcated to Quad 1/10/25GbE lanes for a total of 16 ports. The optical modules are protocol agnostic and could take a mix of 100G and/or 40G transceiver.

Active cooling of the module and option with passive cooling. The passive cooling requires a chassis that forces air over the PCI594 heat sink, such as VadaTech’s VT808 chassis.
